If not, you can purchase one inexpensively at the drug store or online. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.truhearing.com\/more-resources\/clean-care-hearing-aids\/\" title=\"How to Clean and Care for Your Hearing Aids | TruHearing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tools you need to keep your hearing aids pristine<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A wax removal brush<\/li>\n<li>A soft, clean cloth<\/li>\n<li>A wax pick or wire loop<\/li>\n<li>A vent cleaner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other tools you can use include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A soft-bristle children\u2019s toothbrush for removing wax<\/li>\n<li>Disinfectant wipes that are made for hearing aids<\/li>\n<li>Alcohol-free cleaner designed for earmolds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Cleaning Instructions<\/h2>\n<p>Your routine for cleaning your devices will vary slightly based on what style of devices you have, but the basics include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gently brushing the microphone cover to remove debris (daily, in the mornings)<\/li>\n<li>Wiping the entire hearing aid with a soft cloth (daily, in the mornings)<\/li>\n<li>Using a wax pick\/wire loop to remove stubborn buildup (weekly)<\/li>\n<li>Checking and replacing wax guards (weekly\/as needed)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Cleaning In-the-Ear Devices<\/h3>\n<p>When cleaning ITE hearing aids, you should\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gently brush the microphone cover, receiver and vent openings to remove debris<\/li>\n<li>Use the wax pick\/wire loop to remove debris from the air vent<\/li>\n<li>Run a vent cleaner carefully through the opening in each direction (larger vents only)<\/li>\n<li>Wipe down entire hearing aid with soft cloth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Never use water, alcohol or chemical wipes to clean ITE aids.<\/p>\n<h3>Cleaning Behind-the-Ear Devices<\/h3>\n<p>When cleaning BTE hearing aids\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gently brush the hearing aid until it\u2019s clean<\/li>\n<li>Remove the earmold from the hook<\/li>\n<li>Brush the earmold clean, then use the wax pick\/loop to remove stubborn debris<\/li>\n<li>Wipe down the hearing aid and earmold with a soft cloth<\/li>\n<li>As needed, wash the earmold with soap and water.
